The Kuwait Jazz Trio is Kuwait’s premier jazz instrumental ensemble, providing musical entertainment to all those who enjoy jazz. With more than one hundred standard and Modern jazz, ballads, and Latin Jazz pieces in our repertoire, the Kuwait Jazz Trio has performed at hundreds of events, Jazz Nights, and private engagements, averaging twice per week.
Under the leadership of jazz pianist Mike Seals, the works of Spyro Gyra, Oliver Nelson, Duke Ellington, Hoagy Carmichael, Billy Strayhorn, George Gershwin and Rodgers and Hart are as alive today as when they were first written. Using the traditional jazz trio instrumentation of piano, bass and drums, the Kuwait Jazz Trio can provide suitable back-ground music for any occasion or easily serve as the main entertainment event.
The Kuwait Jazz Trio consists of Mike Seals on Piano, Jaco Mendoza on Bass and Benjamin Montano on Drums. Brought together by a mutual love of live jazz music, we strive to provide our audience with a quality performance that is both professional and entertaining.
Mike holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Piano Performance from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL, and a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. A former member of the U.S. Army band, Mike is also the keyboardist for BAR NONE, Kuwait’s classic rock and roll band, and has played piano at many of the five-star hotels around Kuwait.
Our bass player, Jaco Mendoza, continues a family tradition. His father, Elmer, was a founding member of the Kuwait Jazz Trio, and also played bass guitar in the group. Jaco, it seems was destined to play bass; he was named after the late, and much revered, Jaco Pastorious, the bassist for Weather Report. Jaco provides a solid foundation for the trio, and has turned out to be a fine musician and a great asset to the group.
